Even though I know Weill wrote these as Kunstlieder, I feel her interpretation is a bit too operatic, too classical for my taste (also I have the feeling the pianist doesn't know what the text of the song is about - but I may be wrong). Maybe the tempo is just too fast, which prevents the deeper feeling I feel this song needs - also maybe the dejection of a tired older prostitute looking over her past.

This seems so far outside the English folksong tradition that Vaughan Williams was working in, but, my God!, what tremendous commitment and emotion. She totally won me over, and put real blood into her performance. I think Vaughan Williams would have loved it. I know I did. I loved this music before, and she has made me love it (and her) even more. So great sometimes to see a human being triumph so wonderfully in her humanness. Brava!
